In latest Fall Creators Update, Microsoft enable you to install one or more Linux distros from the Windows Store. Distros like Ubuntu, openSUSE and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) can be installed and it has been reported that Fedora and other distros will arrive in the store in the coming months.
Install Linux Distros Via The Windows Store
At first, you need enable the Windows Subsystem for Linux feature in the “Turn Windows Features on or off” dialog and reboot. You need to reboot your system to make it work.
After enabling WSL and rebooting your system, it’s time to look over the windows store for Linux. You can choose linux distros from the store and install it.
WSL now runs multiple Linux distros
After a while, you can run your favorite Linux distros and tools on WSL. Most important improvent in Fall Creators Update is that you can install one or more linux operating system from the Windows Store and can run in side by side. You can also access Windows’ host filesystem, networking stack, etc while running linux distros.
