How To Install Gnome In Ubuntu and Linux Mint.

GNOME is a desktop environment developed by The GNOME Project.In this tutorial we will show you the method to install Gnome in your ubuntu and Linux Mint operating system.

Install Gnome In Ubuntu and Linux Mint.

Run the following command.

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3-staging
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gnome-shell

How to uninstall ubuntu gnome desktop.

Run the following command.

sudo apt-get remove ubuntu-gnome-desktop
sudo apt-get remove gnome-shell
sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove ubuntu-gnome-desktop

This will remove all the Gnome files and dependencies.

Purge system configuration file after removing Gnome file and dependencies.

sudo apt-get purge ubuntu-gnome-desktop
sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove ubuntu-gnome-desktop
sudo apt-get autoremove
Restore previous login screen and desktop environment.
sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm
sudo apt-get remove gdm
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
sudo apt-get install unity
Run the following command.
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
sudo apt-get install --reinstall lightdm
