How To Install Ansible On Linux Distributions

How To Install Ansible On Linux Distributions

Ansible is an open source tool developed by RedHat.

Install Ansible on Ubuntu and Debian-based Linux distributions

Ansible is available in the default repositories of Ubuntu and Debian. You can run the following command to install Ansible on Ubuntu:

sudo apt install ansible

Just in case if no package is found, you can add the PPA of the Ansible with the following command:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ansible/ansible

Update your system:

sudo apt update

Now, you can install Ansible:

sudo apt install ansible

You can verify the installation by checking the version of Ansible with the following command: installed:

ansible --version

Instal Ansible on CentOS/Red Hat/Fedora/SUSE etc

You can run the following command to install the latest version on ansible in CentOS 7. Meanwhile, you should install EPEL (Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux) at first and you can do it with the following command:

sudo yum install epel-release

Now, Install Ansible using following command:

sudo yum install ansible

Check Anisble version by using the following command:

ansible --version

How To Uninstall Ansible from Ubuntu/Debian

Run the following command to uninstall ansible from Ubuntu:

sudo apt remove ansible

To remove ansible along with its all dependency packages:

sudo apt purge ansible

How To Uninstall Ansible from CentOS/Red Hat

You can uninstall or remove ansible from CentOS using the following command:

sudo yum remove ansible -y
