is a web based server management tool.  It can be used to monitor and administer several servers at the same time.  In this tutorial, we are going to show you the methods to install cockpit on CentOS 7, RHEL 7 & Fedora 28.

How To Install Cockpit On CentOS 7,RHEL 7 & Fedora 28

Important Note:

Cockpit comes installed by default in Fedora Server.

To install Cockpit on other variants of Fedora use the following commands. Run your terminal and execute the following command:

Install Cockpit On Fedora:

  1.  Run the following command:
    sudo dnf install cockpit
    
  2. Enable cockpit:
    sudo systemctl enable --now cockpit.socket
    
  3. Open the firewall if necessary:
    sudo firewall-cmd --add-service=cockpit
    sudo firewall-cmd --add-service=cockpit --permanent
    

 Install Cockpit On Red Hat Enterprise Linux

In Red Hat Enterprises, Cockpit is included in the Extras repository. Hence, run the following commands in your terminal:

  1. Enable the Extras repository:
    sudo subscription-manager repos --enable rhel-7-server-extras-rpms
    
  2. Install cockpit:
    sudo yum install cockpit
    
  3. Enable cockpit:
    sudo systemctl enable --now cockpit.socket
    
  4. Open the firewall if necessary:
    sudo firewall-cmd --add-service=cockpit
    sudo firewall-cmd --add-service=cockpit --permanent
    

Install Cockpit On CentOS

  1. Run the following command to Install cockpit:
    sudo yum install cockpit
    
  2. Enable cockpit now:
    sudo systemctl enable --now cockpit.socket
    
  3. Open the firewall if necessary:
    sudo firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-service=cockpit
    sudo firewall-cmd --reload
