Install Docker Compose

Compose is a tool for defining and running multi-container Docker applications. In this article we will show you how to install or setup Docker Compose on CentOS 7.

Firstly, you need to install Docker. Type the below command to get it:

$ wget -qO- https://get.docker.com/ | sh

Now add user:

# usermod -aG docker $(whoami)

Next, make sure that Docker will start at boot time of your CentOs:

# systemctl enable docker

Step to start Docker:

# systemctl start docker

Install Docker Compose

Install Docker Compose

Now after installing Docker, It’s time to install Docker Compose. Before jumping into the installation process of Docker compose, install the EPEL repository:

# yum install epel-release

Now, Install python-pip:

# yum install -y python-pip

Install Docker Compose :

# pip install docker-compose

Upgrade the Python packages on CentOS 7:

# yum upgrade python*

After upgrading the python pacakge, you need to check Docker Compose version:

$ docker-compose -v

You might see something like below:

docker'compose version 1.16.1, build 6d1ac219
