Via Tar file:

Download the tar file or simply use wget.

 

wget https://www.kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/git-2.14.1.tar.gz

Step 2: Now Extract  the package and configure it

tar -xvzf git-2.14.1.tar.gz

./configure

step 3: And Compile the git

make && make install

For Debian distributions

apt-get install libssl-dev

Via PPA:

Step 1: Add the Official PPA provided by GIT using add-apt-repository commmand

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:git-core/ppa

Step 2: Update the Repository

sudo apt-get update

Step 3: Now Install GIT 2.14.1

sudo apt-get install git
