Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Bionic Beaver is already available for download. Various changes and improvements has been done in latest version of Ubuntu. Among various changes, Gnome desktop is the one. Install Mate Desktop In Ubuntu 18.04 LTS

Open your terminal and execute the following commands. You need to add ppa before moving to installation step.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mate-dev/xenial-mate
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install mate

Now, you need to access the Gnome Tweak Tool in Ubuntu to change the theme.

In-order to uninstall and remove Mate Desktop, run the following commands:

sudo apt-get install ppa-purge
sudo ppa-purge ppa:ubuntu-mate-dev/xenial-mate
