Some of you might hate the word Microsoft and it’s products. We can understand but at the same time we can’t deny that there are some fantastic product from Microsoft too and one of those is Visual Studio Code.

Visual Studio Code is a lightweight and cross platform source code editor.  Visual Studio Code is based on Electron framework.

In this tutorial we are going show you the method to Install Visual Studio Code On CentOS 7 / RHEL 7/ RHEL 8 /Fedora 30 / 29.

At first, Import the official GPG key using the following curl command.

rpm --import https://packages.microsoft.com/keys/microsoft.asc

Now, after importing GPG key you can add the Visual Studio Code repository in your system.

cat << EOF > /etc/yum.repos.d/vscode.repo
[code]
name=Visual Studio Code
baseurl=https://packages.microsoft.com/yumrepos/vscode
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=https://packages.microsoft.com/keys/microsoft.asc
EOF

 

Run upgrades :

### CentOS / RHEL ###

yum check-update

### Fedora ###

dnf check-update

Now, you can easily install  Visual Studio Code.

### CentOS / RHEL ###

yum install -y code

### Fedora ###

dnf install -y code
