Install Zimbra Desktop Email Client On Ubuntu

Zimbra Desktop is a popular email client. It is cross platform and is available on Windows, MacOS and Linux. It supports popular email networks like Gmail, Microsoft Outlook and Yahoo. You can also use your personal email account that uses IMAP or POP.

You need to have Java installed in your system to run Zimbra. To check if Java is installed on your systems, run the following command in your system.

java --version

Now, Download the latest version of Zimbra from the link below.

Or, You run the following commands to download the file and install it in your Linux.

cd /tmp
wget https://s3.amazonaws.com/files.zimbra.com/downloads/zdesktop/7.3.1/b13063/zdesktop_7_3_1_ga_b13063_20170628044421_linux_x64.tgz
sudo tar xzvf zdesktop*
cd zdesktop_7_3_1_ga_b13063_linux_x64
sudo ./install.pl

Follow the onscreen instructions.

Now run the following command to configure your profile.

sudo /opt/zimbra/zdesktop/linux/user-install.pl

Again follow the onscreen instructions to complete the setup.

Once Zimbra Desktop is installed, you can access it via application dashboard or by double clicking the icon in the Desktop.
