Kali Linux


No doubt, Kali Linux is the most famous and widely known Linux operating system for penetration testing. Previously known as a BackTrack, Debian based Kali Linux was developed by Offensive Security.



Ubuntu based BackBox is a penetration testing operating system which is very easy and quick to use. It has own software repository. It provides network and infomartic systems analysis toolkit. BackBox desktop environment includes a complete set of tools required for ethical hacking and security testing.



Arch Linux based BlackArch is a penetration testing and security researching operating system. BlackArch Linux is an Arch Linux-based penetration testing distribution for penetration testers and security researchers. The repository contains 1515 tools. You can install tools individually or in groups.



ArchStrike (previously known as ArchAssault) is a  security penetration distro based on Arch Linux.

DEFT Linux


DEFT (acronym for Digital Evidence & Forensics Toolkit) is a distribution made for Computer Forensics, with the purpose of running live on systems without tampering or corrupting devices (hard disks, pendrives, etc…) connected to the PC where the boot process takes place.

The DEFT system is based on GNU Linux, it can run live (via DVDROM or USB pendrive), installed or run as a Virtual Appliance on VMware or Virtualbox. DEFT employs LXDE as desktop environment and WINE for executing Windows tools under Linux. It features a comfortable mount manager for device management.
