Ubuntu 18.10 release date has been fixed and it is October 18.  Ubuntu 18.10 codename “Cosmic Cuttlefish” is coming out with some of the amazing features. Ubuntu 18.10 will have a lifecycle of  9 months. Ubuntu 18.10 will reach end of life on July 2019.

Some of the features  of Ubuntu 18.10 cosmic cuttlefish are:

  • Unlock with your fingerprint
  • Thunderbolt settings via GNOME Control Center
  • XDG Portals support for snap
  • Communitheme will be the default theme. Communitheme was originally developed for Ubuntu 18.04, will be the new default theme in 18.10
  • Integration with the KDE Connect Android app by default.
  • Ubuntu 18.10 will be loaded with Gnome 3.30
  • Improved Snaps – faster boot time

Interesting things to note is that there will be no alpha or beta milestones. There will be the ‘testing weeks’.
