Install Communi Theme In Ubuntu

Ubuntu 18.04 LTS is set to be out this month. It has been reported that there will be pretty new themes along with ubuntu default theme in ubuntu 18.04.

UPDATE:  Cannonical has decided that Ubuntu 18.04 will ship with Ambience and there be no new theme by default. 

Developed by ubuntu community, Communi Theme is a flat GTK theme which is almost similar to Ubuntu’s own Ambiance GTK theme. Ubuntu 18.04 LTS will be out with tons of the new features. Some of the new features in upcoming latest version of ubuntu 18.04 LTS are:

1)Support for color emojis
2)GNOME desktop environment
3) New GTK theme
4) Default graphics server will change to Xorg

In this tutorial, we will show you easy way to install Communi Theme ( Which is still in development mode) in ubuntu just in case if you want to try it before official release for ubuntu 18.04.


How To install Communi theme

As we have mentioned that, Communi theme is still in development mode, some of the icon might be missing.

Before installing the theme, you need to add the PPA to your repository list.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:communitheme/ppa </[re>
Now update your system
 sudo apt update

Now, install ubuntu communi theme.

sudo apt install ubuntu-communitheme-session

Now you need to restart your computer to see the changes. Your login screen will use the new theme by default.  Meanwhile, some time you need to manually specify the themes in “Gnome Tweaks” after installing new theme.

Don’t miss the latest theme updates

As this theme is still in development mode and available in github repositories, anything that’s committed to the master branch of the theme on github repository will be available in the repository in a day. Latest updates are updated by Ubuntu updater automatically.

You can easily update your theme with the following commands.

sudo apt update

Now, upgrade it

sudo apt upgrade
