Upgrade From Ubuntu 16.04 LTS To Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
update-manager-core package by running following command:
sudo apt install update-manager-core
/etc/update-manager/release-upgrades and verify that the

lts on Ubuntu 16.04 or
normal on Ubuntu 17.10:
Now, Run the following command to upgrade:
As Ubuntu 18.04 LTS is already available for download, You won’t encounter any errors.
Just in case if you see any errors, Run the following command to upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.
sudo do-release-upgrade -d
Your system will now start upgrading your Ubuntu to the latest one.
