VPN is Illegal in UAE, Fine Up To $545,000

It’s official now as using VPN in UAE is completely illegal now. You will be fined up to $545,000 or might go to jail if you are found using Virtual Private Network in UAE. The UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has issued a  this new lawas where anyone using a VPN or proxy server can be imprisoned and fined.

New law states that :

Whoever uses a fraudulent computer network protocol address (IP address) by using a false address or a third-party address by any other means for the purpose of committing a crime or preventing its discovery, shall be punished by temporary imprisonment and a fine of no less than Dh500,000 and not exceeding Dh2,000,000, or either of these two penalties.


At the moment, a large number of people residing in the UAE ( Mostly immigrants) are using VPNs in order to access popular apps like WhatsApp, Snapchat and Viber which are inaccessible from within the Gulf nation.
